The Specialty Food Shop on Alderwood Farm is based on the belief that Food is your Medicine.

Our goal is to create Delicious Nourishing Medicine for your Body, Mind & Soul.

 
 
 
 

We believe that food needs to have a high nutrient value so high quality ingredients such as

organic vegetable and flours, and non GMO oils and grains are used in our recipes.

Located on the West side of Bowen Island we are a great place to stop on the way to the Beach for picnic items as well as “Hands-Free Dinner” options when company is coming and you’d rather spend time visiting than cooking.

ALDERWOOD FARM SHOP offers an essential service to the island as well as nourishing any visitors that come to experience the essence of BOWEN ISLAND.

  • Our picnic hampers

    Want to pre order your picnic hamper for your day’s adventure? We can put together a mixture of Menu items with some cold beverages, baked goods, chocolate etc. to be brought for a picnic, kayak trip or hike and can have items ready out of the oven if you’d like to dine in and watch the world go by with a glass of wine.

    If you are celebrating a special occasion we can arrange flowers, chocolate, wine or champagne to be ready for your arrival to start the celebration when you check in.

    With our On-Site Specialty Food Shop you can enjoy great food without having to leave the farm. We have a wonderful selection of Dips and Salsas to enjoy with Chips, Crackers or Baguette as an appetizer upon arrival or after a day of adventure. We make a Delicious Selection of Soups, Pizza’s & Entrees if you’d like to dine in on your private deck or patio.

    Please see our Menu below and call ahead to reserve items to have ready for your arrival as an appetizer or first night dinner.

    (Orders need to placed when booking or before 3pm to be ready when the shop closes at 5pm)

MEDICINES FROM NATURE

Teas, Tinctures, Essential Oils, Elixirs, Medicinal Herbs & Mushrooms are also a passion of the owner so Alderwood Farm is a wonderful source of healing and health promoting items that support the body’s natural healing ability.

Organic ingredients

Using primarily organic produce and ingredients, our products combine inventive recipes with skill-full and passionate cooking.

 

The shop carries a collection of lovingly crafted meals often Veggie or Vegan, Take Home delights such as our House Made Pizzas and Pies as well as a selection of our Home-made Soups and Dips. We try to support a variety of eating choices and challenges so have items that work for gluten or dairy free preferences and focus mainly on Plant Based Menu items. But Being part Dutch I do love my cheese so some items have a blend of Asiago and Mozzarella like our Pasta Dishes or Pizzas or full on cream like our Mac n Cheese, Crème de Mushroom soup or the Transportational Tiramisu.

 

FARM FRESH.

Our seventy plus organically fed chickens produce delicious brown eggs daily which we use in our cooking as well as providing for our customers.

We lovingly support this community of laying hens that provides our family, our B&B Guests and our Shop Customers with beautiful farm fresh eggs..

MEDICINAL GARDENS..

We grow a mixture of medicinal and culinary herbs, veggies, fruits and flowers that we use in our store and in our accommodations.

Jules, founder, specializes in the creation of unique herbal teas and she envisions the shop housing an exclusive apothecary.

APOTHECARY...

The shop not only creates delicious healthy food but also is a mecca for unusual health products and medicinal herbs, rejuvenating elixirs and tonics.

The ambience you will experience when entering the shop is one of vibrant joyful energy, wonderful smells coming from the kitchen and a host of delights for the senses.

Using primarily organic produce and ingredients, our products combine inventive recipes with skill-full and passionate cooking. We are very conscious of the many specific needs and culinary trends that drive todays growing interest in healthy food and the paradigm “Food is thy Medicine”.
